Downtown Design League is a collective founded in downtown L.A.'s HISTORIC ARTS DISTRICT, by creative directors CÁDIZ+REAL.
The visceral nature of design duo's collections are brought to life using hand-sculpted techniques and a fine art approach to design.
Each piece in the collection and every part of the process is skillfully executed in Los Angeles by the multi-disciplined artists and their dedicated team.
DTLA ARTS DISTRICT ATELIER
Downtown Design League brings a modern aesthetic to downtown Los Angeles—re-surging as the new epicenter of culture in L.A. as the first luxury atelier in the downtown Los Angeles Arts District.

Positioned amidst the Toy Factory Lofts just a few doors down from Belgian cafe Little Bear, the curiously luxurious Downtown Design League boutique would be easy to miss. But those who luck upon double-taking into its floor-to-ceiling glass windows will spy a sophisticated retail space, featuring handcrafted clothing, shoes, leather goods and accessories, all of which are locally made. Downtown Design League’s creative team are palpably focused on their philosophy of creating luxury goods with both love and artistry. The atelier is open 12pm–8pm Tuesday - Saturday, but appointments are also available for those who’d like to discuss crafting their own custom Angeleno-made suede shoe, for example.

And for their limited-edition collection, launching in spring, CÁDIZ+REAL experimented with organic forms and raw textures. The duo, who also oversee the Downtown Design League women's brand, offer a glimpse into their creative process.

"Moving from New York's West Village to LA's Arts
District has had a profound effect on our work. The sun-
filled days change you. You pay closer attention to the way
light plays off different surfaces."
"We took a lot of inspiration from nature,
such as the leather-like appearance of river birch
bark, the intricate texture of dried tobacco leaves,
and the wrinkled surface of black peppercorns."
